Cross TrainingCross Training Ministries has played a huge role in my life since joining in 2019. This non-profit organization has enabled me to grow as an individual, step into leadership roles, and experience life changing moments in the relationships that have been built within this community.
I coach at the Summer soccer camps and recently traveled to Mexico for a mission trip with this ministry. In Mexico, we served migrants, visited orphanages, distributed Bags Without Borders, and built four homes. We visited an orphanage for those with special needs and this experience really allowed me to explore my own potential with those who have special needs. The mission trip highlighted the importance of being led by faith and serving others with a willing and joyful heart. |
Emerging Leaders Academy
During my time at the University of Mary, I have been part of the Emerging Leaders Academy. Throughout ELA, my peers and I have served in our communities, mentored younger ELA students, and developed skills such as team building, taking the initiative, and connecting with others.
Service ProjectsWe reached out to our community looking to serve those in need. Some of the service projects my classmates and I created include Giving to Guardians and First Responders Community Connection. The Giving to Guardians project served low-income families at a local elementary school as well as supporting and appreciating parents and foster parents in the community. The First Responders Community Connection is a project I created after high school that my ELA class helped me to continue in which we provide teddy bears and dolls for First Responders to distribute to children in crisis as a source of comfort.

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park
In Cultural Diversity class during Fall of 2021, our class partnered with Light of Christ schools and traveled to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park to learn and understand more about the Native American culture in North Dakota. Our group created multiple lessons for the elementary class from St. Anne's in which students and my peers explored the Native American culture.
AVID TutorI have had the opportunity to be an AVID tutor over the past few years. I have tutored at Century High as well as Legacy High. Through these experiences, I witnessed and gained an understanding of the importance of student-led learning as well as question-based learning. Challenging students to critically think about a problem rather than simply telling them the answer increases student engagement and learning.
